(MCLEAN, VA., May 10, 2017) — Washington Technology, in partnership with Microsoft, announces a defense contracting event focused on securing the DOD Cloud environment, "Delivering on the Demands of Secure Cloud for DOD." The event will take place May 12 at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner in McLean, VA.
Defense organizations are looking for business partners that can execute on cloud security—not just on controls specified by the DFARS, but also on the requirements spelled out by the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), the FedRAMP High baseline, and Department of Defense (DOD) Impact Level 4 and Impact Level 5." This event, produced by Washington Technology and Microsoft, will bring together defense contractors, systems integrators and members of the Defense Industrial Base to learn about technologies and strategies that can deliver secure commercial cloud solutions. Speakers include senior-level defense, federal government and industry experts.
"As DOD moves forward with its cloud plans, security will be the make-or-break point for any company trying to sell those services," said Washington Technology Editor in Chief Nick Wakeman. "The best way to understand those security requirements is to hear it directly from those in charge. That's why I'm happy that we have such a strong line up of speakers from the Defense Department who can share what their security concerns and priorities are."
"CSRA is excited to discuss next-generation IT with our strategic alliance partner Microsoft for this week's event hosted by Washington Technology," said CSRA President and CEO Larry Prior. "Cloud computing in the DOD environment requires solving technical, security, and policy challenges—all at the same time. This event is a great step forward in helping unleash the innovation potential with cloud computing for our warfighters."
Confirmed speakers include John Bergin, Business Technology Officer, DOD CIO, Department of Defense; John Connor, IT Security Specialist, Office of Information Systems Management, National Institute of Standards and Technology; Kevin Dulany, Chief, Risk Management Framework Division, and Deputy CIO for Cybersecurity (DCIO-CS), Department of Defense; Victor Gavin, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Information Operations and Space, U.S. Navy; Thomas Sasala, Director, Army Architecture Integration Center, Office of the Chief Information Officer/G-6, U.S. Army; Larry Prior, President and Chief Executive Officer, CSRA; Susie Adams, Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft Federal; and Tom Keane, General Manager, Microsoft Azure.
"Looking forward to sharing more during my technology session about how Microsoft Azure Government continues to provide federal and DOD agencies and partners with the deepest set of services, capabilities, and compliance standards to help best achieve their mission scenarios," shared Tom Keane, General Manager Microsoft Azure.
